Meanwhile, on August 14, the training specialists of the Ayb Educational Foundation completed the qualification trainings for the 600 science and technology teachers from Tavush marz schools. The trainings were conducted in cooperation with the “EU for innovation” initiative, under the partnership framework between the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the World Bank, within the scope of the pilot project on introducing new state standards for general education at the general educational establishments of Tavush Marz.
The senior management qualification program is based on the international experience of effective leadership and aims to support the headmasters and deputy headmasters in leading the amendment process and introducing the new state standards for general education.
Within the scope of the development program and through theory and practice, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the following topics relevant to their daily work:
Vision and policy development for school reforms and assessment of their outcomes,
Teaching and learning leadership,
Leadership for systemic changes,
Expansion of cooperation with parents and the community,
Team leadership, effective communication, self-development and contribution to the development of others.
Having greeted the headmasters and their deputies via video call on the onset of the development program, Ms. Zhanna Andreasyan, deputy minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, attached great importance to the leading role of the senior school management in efficient integration of the new educational standards and successful and aligned implementation of the reforms, including that of the new curricula, assessment procedures and tariff tables, as well as emphasized the need to motivate and involve the teachers in the current reforms.
Ms. Andreasyan wished every success to the participants of the current qualification training and thanked the partners and particularly the Ayb Educational Foundation for cooperation; the latter is in charge of the science and technology sector of the program and spares no effort this entire summer to ensure the dynamic and smooth training implementation.
The Deputy Minister also mentioned that ongoing activities are underway and encouraged everyone to remain engaged and contribute to the improved process efficiency with their feedback.
Ms. Sona Koshetsyan, executive director of the Ayb Educational Foundation, mentioned during the meeting that the qualification trainings are unique and unprecedented in a sense that the headmasters and teachers partake in them together. Owing to the fact, both actors are to lead this fundamental process which took a start in Tavush and will further expand across the republic. In result, we will have a specialist community to support the amendment process of the state standards for general education.
The program will be implemented in 3 phases, each comprising a three-day face-to-face meeting. The process will be accompanied by group mentoring sessions and discussions and will last until May 2022.
