World Robot Olympiad Jury Commends Preparedness of Armenia Team

27 November / 2018

The international stage of the World Robot Olympiad was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from November 16 to 18. This year, Arm Cyber Kids represented Armenia at the Olympiad.

The team comprises siblings, 12-year-old Ines Gasparyan and 11-year-old Ashot Gasparyan, who are the winners of the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad.

Competing with 104 teams in their age category, the Armenia team’s robot, which sorted fruits based on their quality or appearance, earned the team the 32nd place.

Our children competed with countries that have longstanding experience in the field. It should be noted this was the second time Armenia was being represented in the international stage of the competition.

The organizers and jury of the international stage have commended our team’s preparedness, knowledge and ability to work independently.

Armenia has been holding the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad since 2016 to foster the teaching of robotics, programming and engineering in Armenian schools, develop children’s creativity and problem-solving skills, as well as to discover talented children in the public education sector. The official and exclusive organizer of the WRO national stage in Armenia is the Ayb Educational Foundation.

The sponsor of the WRO 2018 in Armenia is Rostelecom Armenia, and the partner is the Creative Educational Technologies (CET).
