Armenian schoolchildren — a team of five — were awarded a third degree diploma in the All-Ukrainian Tournament of Young Chemists held in Rovno, Ukraine, from October 28 to November 2.
This year, the tournament had 22 teams from three countries — Armenia, Ukraine and Mexico.
The Armenia team comprised five members that had been selected from among the members of the four teams that had advanced to the final of the All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists held by the Ayb Educational Foundation in Armenia. The Armenia team participated in the tournament thanks to the support of the Ayb Educational Foundation and Converse Bank.
“Our children shone. During the tournament they gained experience and thanks to their knowledge and readiness managed to best present themselves and Armenia. We hope that Armenian students’ participation in international chemistry competitions will be ongoing,” said Nina Hobosyan, Coordinator at the School Contests Department at the Ayb Educational Foundation, who accompanied the children throughout the tournament.
Members of the Armenia team competed with over 100 participants, and besides getting the diploma, they also recorded inspiring and high results for their individual ratings. Particularly, team member Raffi Shakhmuradyan was included in the top 10 and was also awarded three certificates for demonstrating morale, quick reaction as well as smart opposition, good knowledge of chemistry, active debates and general knowledge of chemistry. Another team member, Gagik Tadevosyan, was awarded an individual prize for communicating the entire flavor of the Armenian culture.
“This was the busiest and most interesting week of my life,” said team member Milena Shushanyan.
